Having been a fan of the game for over a decade I was cautiously optimistic about the show. Riot have done an amazing job in the past of promoting their game through a number of amazing animated shorts and music videos. Arcane lives up to that and more. It is a beautifully crafted series that really bucks the trend when it comes to video game adaptions. I am glad Netflix took the punt in allowing Riot full control because it just shows how amazing a product can be when you let the people who know it best create it.

Arcane follows the story of sisters Vi and Jinx as they grow up in the lanes of Zaun as they deal with a divided class system that saw their parents killed. They are taken in by Vander who raises them as his own having thrown down his dark past to look after them. The show is so beautifully animated that it's worth watching just for that, but it's made even more amazing by a solidly crafted story. It's release schedule to coincide with time jumps shows just how well Riot is at crafting these stories within the world they have built over the past decade. Talk to any LoL enthusiast and they will tell you just how insanely deep and fleshed out the lore is within Runeterra. Arcane is just one small story within that world.
